Qué difícil es explicarle a esta generación lo que Maradona significo para Argentina y el resto del mundo. Demasiado difícil es tratar de hacer entender que tan trascendental fue El Diego, alguien que cruzó lo futbolístico y pasó a ser un ícono de la cultura pop, porque más allá de haber sacado del anonimato a un equipo de barrio del sur de Italia, más allá de hacerlo ganar grandes cosas o de alcanzar la gloria con su Selección, estamos hablando de un fenómeno que sirvió de inspiración en la música, cine, e incluso al otro lado del mundo se basaron en su figura para la producción de uno de los animés más conocidos (Capitan Tsubasa)… y sí, el personaje de Oliver Atom fue inspirado en él.

Para poner en contexto, Argentina venía con heridas no cicatrizadas de una guerra desigual donde murió mucha gente humilde. Las Malvinas representan un capítulo de deshonor y tristeza en ellos. Por antojos del destino, en el Mundial de 1986 celebrado en México, se daba el cruce contra la Selección de los verdugos de esa guerra, y Maradona lo entendió todo, el significado especial de ese partido y lo que para muchos representaba un nuevo choque con Inglaterra, esta vez en el futbol.

Aunque suene de película, pareciera ser que el Pelusa nació para ese encuentro, para esos 90 minutos tan únicos que escribieron múltiples anécdotas, donde en todas ellas él fue el máximo protagonista. Ese día se escribió uno de los miles de capítulos más destacados en la historia del futbol y su carrera. No hace falta mencionar que pasó, al final del encuentro ese pibe de barrio hizo que cada argentino se sintiera vengado, y qué mejor que en el deporte que los propios ingleses crearon, de nuevo, poniendo en contexto sobre lo que significó Maradona para Argentina (y para todos aquellos que le guardan una gran admiración).

Cómo olvidar cuando en nuestro país también veíamos a quienes sacaban los viejos trapos de la Guerra de la Triple Alianza en esos días en que Paraguay jugaba partidos importantes contra Brasil, Argentina o Uruguay. Y el autor de este articulo se incluye, nos tomábamos como una “revancha” esos partidos épicos cuando el gran Gerardo “Tata” Martino construyo una Selección que inspiraba respeto, especialmente la inolvidable final contra Uruguay en la Copa América 2011, UNA FINAL CONTRA UN EQUIPO URUGUAYO, EN TERRITORIO ARGENTINO Y CON ARBITRO BRASILERO. Nosotros esperábamos que apareciera un “Salvador” y que vengara parte de nuestro cruel pasado, y fue eso lo que tuvieron los argentinos tras ese partido tan especial, fue eso lo que encontraron en Maradona, un símbolo nacionalista y de victoria, lo que ocurrió al final de ese Mundial ya es historia, fue resultado del trabajo duro y amor a la bandera.

El 25/11/20 no falleció cualquier exjugador, sino el gladiador argentino del balompié que jugaba con el corazón, el que nació tocado con la magia, la mística y el misterio. Era de esos que el partido primero te lo ganaba mentalmente y luego en la cancha. El que recibía mil patadas y diez mil veces volvía a levantarse. La derrota no existía en su diccionario, su límite era la cima. Cada vez que tocaba la pelota aparecía una ráfaga de esperanza en el partido más difícil.

Era el más humano de todos los dioses, un personaje que parecía sacado de la ficción, el estoicismo hecho carne. El que era negro o blanco, nunca gris. El hombre que encarno el mesianismo en el futbol, ese era Maradona. El único que supo emular el arquetipo de héroe, aunque solo sea en la cancha.

Pudo ser un malviviente como muchos de los que vienen de barrio pobres, pero el optó por vestirse de resiliencia, se dedico a practicar futbol con el sueño de algún día consagrarse en primera y a su familia ayudar.

Diego Armando Maradona Franco, descendiente de correntinos por su padre y de paraguayos por su madre… sí, tenía algo de paraguayo, alguna explicación debió tener ese espíritu indomable y heroico. El mayor astro del fútbol se convirtió en leyenda, y esta será contada eternamente por generaciones.
